About C. David Gammel, CAE

C. David Gammel, CAE, is the Executive Director of Entomological Society of America (ESA), which serves the professional and scientific needs of entomologists and individuals in related disciplines. A long-time executive and consultant in the association industry, David has worked as an executive at leading health care, scientific, and business associations and consulted with organizations ranging from a start-up purchased by Google to mature technology companies to some of the world’s leading nonprofit organizations.

He is the author of the books Maximum Engagement: Moving Members, Donors, and Customers to Ever-increasing Levels of Participation (2011) and Online and On Mission: Practical Web Strategy for Breakthrough Results. (2009). He has spoken internationally to Fortune 500, small business and nonprofit executives on diverse subjects including strategy, technology, international business assignments and online culture. David has been quoted in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Wired magazine on issues such as social media, strategy, and the impact of the Web on business.

David holds a BA in International Studies from Miami University and a MA in International Communication from American University. He obtained the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation through the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) in June 2002, is a past-chair of the ASAE Technology Section Council, and currently serves on ASAE’s Public Policy Committee.
